'63 Corvette Stingray, 327 cid 4 speed
Recently Sold for $14,000 on eBay
You could sort of call this Corvette a "barn find" but certainly not a "survivor". This 1963 Stingray has been sitting in storage as you see it in these photos since 1978. No history on why it was gutted so long ago and then stored, but maybe even then the owners foresaw what these Corvettes would fetch at auction.
The factory original 327 cid engine and 4-speed transmission are long gone. The seller claims he bought it from the original owner, but doesn't give an explanation as to why so many parts are missing. The body is mostly intact and in decent shape, although photos can't show any spiderweb cracks in the fiberglass. The removable hard top is pretty cool. That alone is worth some big bucks after so many years. In 1963 Chevrolet made 10,919 convertible Corvettes and more than half got the removable hardtop, but not a ton have survived this long.
